National Fire Protection, LLC | Kirlin Company is a fire protection systems contractor capable of performing any type of commercial, industrial, service, residential, and special hazards systems and construction.  With principal offices in Maryland, Florida and Texas, the company offers its leadership in the fire protection systems industry to a broad range of clients. A project can call for any type of fire protection system, from standard wet and dry sprinkler through large and complex special hazards systems, alarm and detection and suppression in any type of construction environment, from new construction to detail oriented historical renovation, while utilizing any type of contract delivery system, including design-bid-build, fast-track construction, design-assist, and design-build, and NFP has the talent, technical, and financial resources to meet the client's needs. 

National Fire Protection, LLC | Kirlin Group Company is currently looking for a Summer Intern for our Ft. Lauderdale office. 


The intern will provide support and documentation for project management staff.  The intern will be assigned to a specific area of discipline (i.e., submittals, drawings, etc.); a specific project manager; or general management for several project managers.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Prepare required documentation for areas of assigned responsibility.
  • Copy and distribute documentation per procedures.
  • Receive data and compile summary reports of activities for management on weekly and monthly basis as required.
  • Assisting in the coordination of projects from conception
  • Assembly and maintain the accuracy of the project logs, drawings and submittals.
  • Assist in the research and prepare contract design change requests and RFIs.
  • Perform additional assignments as directed by the project manager.
  • Review all submittals for conformance with contract documents.

 Qualification Requirements

  • Currently obtaining a degree in Fire protection Engineering/Technology or Construction management with focus on Fire protection or classes in Fire protection.
  • Strong analytical, conceptual, communication, and organizational skills required
  • Ability to effectively interface with all levels of personnel and management required
  • Ability to work and thrive in a team environment required
  • Strong judgment and problem solving skills required
  • Working knowledge of Word and Excel required
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD or Revit is preferred
  • Beginner's knowledge of Fire protection equipment, material, drawings and specifications, additional information will be taught. 

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.
