Job Description

Kirlin Carolinas is a large scale commercial mechanical and plumbing contractor in the Raleigh/Durham area, with branch offices in SC, specializing in hospitals, R&D, plan & spec and design build. We self-perform HVAC piping, plumbing, and the installation of equipment associated with our projects throughout North and South Carolina.  Our projects range from $1 MM to $30 MM mechanical contract value.

We are currently looking for an NCDOT CERTIFIED FLAGGER to join Kirlin Carolinas, LLC.

Position Overview

Kirlin is looking for a NCDOT Certified Flagger. This individual MUST have a NCDOT certification. Wages will be based off experience and certifications ($12 - $16 per hour)

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Worker controls movement of vehicular traffic through construction projects
  • Discusses traffic plans and type and location of control points with superior
  • Distributes traffic control signs and markers along site in designated pattern
  • Directs movement of traffic through site, using sign, hand and flag signals
  • Warns construction/utility workers when approaching vehicle fails to heed signals to prevent accident and injury to workers
  • Informs drivers of detour routes through work sites
  • Records license number of traffic control violators for police/law enforcement
  • May give hand marker to last driver in line up of one-way traffic

Qualification Requirements

  • Must have a valid Flagger Certification card
  • NCDOT Flagging Certification
  • Strong verbal communication skills, ability to read and write and good eye-hand coordination
  • Ability to quickly respond appropriately to unexpected events
  • Employee needs to be able to work without supervision
  • As this job may require long periods of standing and being subjected to adverse weather conditions, it is important that the flagger is in good physical condition
  • Good eyesight (corrected vison if needed) and hearing
  • Must be able to pass a pre-hire drug test
